Amare Dessie Belay, FCCA, CPA, MBA, is a manager in the audit and accounting department of Calibre CPA Group. He has been in public accounting since 1997.
Amare has significant public accounting experience in the specialized field of tax-exempt organizations including national organizations, charitable entities, trade and professional associations, advocacy groups, and employee benefit funds. He has performed financial statements audits, audits in accordance with Uniform Guidance requirements, and other attestation engagements. His responsibilities include all aspects of engagement performance, including planning, supervising and conducting audit fieldwork; preparing financial statements, auditor’s reports and management letters; and presenting audit results to clients. Amare’s tax compliance responsibilities include preparation of annual tax and exempt organization information returns and determining unrelated business income tax liabilities.
Amare received his B.A. in Accounting from the Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia in 1996 and obtained a B.A. in Finance from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, MA, in 2018. He is a Certified Public Accountant registered in Virginia and also a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant of the United Kingdom. Professional memberships include the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Greater Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants (GWSCPA).
