James E. Gomes, CPA, is the firm’s Managing Partner. He has been in public accounting since 1998 and brings years of invaluable experience and leadership within the firm. This position is a natural progression in his career, reflecting his expertise and alignment with the firm’s core values and strategic goals. James oversees the operations and strategic direction of the firm. His focus is also on supporting partners and staff, and ensuring clients receive the highest standard of service.
He has earned a reputation of providing clients, from small nonprofits to multi-billion-dollar pension funds, with the highest level of advisory service. He has significant experience with not-for-profit organizations including labor unions, trade and professional associations, charitable organizations, foundations, advocacy groups and employee benefit funds. James serves as the North American Chair of Morison Global, an association the firm is affiliated with. He is also on Morison’s International Board.
James’ client base includes several of the firm’s largest multiemployer benefit plans and international labor organizations and not-for-profits receiving federal awards and other trade associations. He also has significant experience with forensic, royalty and operational audits and reviews of various labor unions to determine compliance with present Department of Labor regulations. James received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Pennsylvania and holds a Practice Privilege in California. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Greater Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.
