A Day in the Life at Calibre CPA Group-

What is your title? Describe what you do.
My title is an Administrative Assistant. I assist and coordinate everything in our office, my responsibilities include a receptionist, assist with financial statements proof reading, keep-track and record CPE credits for employees. I also coordinate all social activities and volunteering events.
Why did you get into the accounting/audit industry?
I grew up in a family of Accountants. I always had an interest in reconciling my income and expenses. My first job offer was with a CPA firm, 35 years later I am still employed with a CPA firm.
What are three things you do every day? Do you have any morning “rituals”?
The three things I do every day are: I make sure I eat a healthy breakfast every morning, I watch the stock market news, and play the game of wordle. My morning ritual is, and it is quite important to me, I make sure I greet my coworkers with a smile and good morning when I come into the office. I also start my day with a to do list.
What are the most challenging and rewarding parts of your job?
The most challenging part of my job is to keep up with my daily deadlines. The most rewarding part of my job is when I can assist my coworkers with something, and they are happy and satisfied.
What advice would you give to someone looking to pursue a role like yours? Are there specific character traits or skills/certifications they should possess?
Being organized is the key to my position, learn to understand and deal with numerous personalities. I would also advise someone to stay calm and think positive. Be fair and not bias. I would also advise them to stay on top of their computer skills.
