Recap – 2019 Employee Benefit Plan Virtual Conference

Calibre CPA Group recently hosted a virtual conference that educated plan administrators, trustees, and other service providers about recent developments in the industry. In 2019, there are new tax regulations, legislative decisions, and shifting economic trends that will impact industry best practices.

Speakers from Calibre CPA Group shared their knowledge on how to increase the efficiency of employee benefit plans. Jackie Dunn and Mary Margaret Prange gave pertinent updates on audit and accounting issues for the coming year. Glenn Eyrich and Joe Herishen delivered a presentation on how to prepare for a Department of Labor audit, which included best practices for plan sponsors to consider. Art Budich shed light on the top 10 fraud risks to guard against in employee benefit plans.

The Calibre team was joined by a special guest speaker with extensive experience in all aspects of employee benefits law. Mayoung Nham, Principal at Slevin & Hart, P.C., gave an update on legislative proposals and relief for multiemployer defined benefit plans. The speakers also fielded questions from the audience.
