A Day in the Life at Calibre CPA Group-
Yu Cai, Audit Manager
What is your title? Describe what you do.
I am an Audit Manager. I am responsible for leading and monitoring the engagement from planning to deliverables. I coordinate the day-to-day activities of audits and client interactions and ensuring efficient information flows from the client to the audit team, coaching the audit staff and other seniors on engagements, reviewing their audit documentation, and providing feedback are important parts of my job.
Why did you get into the accounting/audit industry?
After graduation, I worked as a financial accountant for a very short time. I realized that I would prefer a job that allows me to work on different engagements and interact with different clients. So, I switched to public accounting, and I have liked it so far.
What are three things you do every day? Do you have any morning “rituals”?
Three things I do every day (or every other day)- Fitness figure dance, reading ,and cook delicious food. My morning rituals would be coffee with a hot breakfast.
What advice would you give to someone looking to pursue a role like yours? Are there specific character traits or skills/certifications they should possess?
I would encourage all who would like to pursue a role in the accounting industry to start with public accounting. It is a challenging industry that needs you to be equipped with great communication skills, quick learning ability, and professional skepticism. Other than that, you would also need to balance your own time to enjoy the work while not missing important parts of your life.
What do you like best about Calibre?
Calibre cares about its individual employees and makes you feel like a family. I can speak with the management at any time if I have any issues. The longer you work in the industry, the more important it is to work with good people.
